App interface project completed for Fish McGill's Information Architecture class at Massachusetts College of Art & Design in Fall 2019. I was assigned to look into a cultural organization's photo database, I decided to use ACT UP's (the AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) political posters.
The app allows users to explore the story of ACT UP through a system of filters; I chose to go more in depth than a timeline, and really dig into the intersectional purposes of ACT UP. The user is encouraged to see who ACT UP
worked for or against, and what the posters were communicating. In my research and user testing, people were
also interested in a function that would help them get involved with AIDS activism.
Project is non-commercial, all of the posters belong to the New York Public Library's ACT UP New York archive.
